Ten Years Ago WISC Opened it’s Doors with High Expectations and a Grand Vision
What began as a soccer, in-line hockey and karate facility has evolved into a family facility that has become a staple in the Williamsburg community. WISC has come a long way in ten years and as president/founder Chris Haywood will tell you it’s taken a lot of hard work. Since opening in June of 2000 WISC has added programs like Gymnastics, Preschool, Before and After School, Baseball Academy, WISC Fitness Center, Dance Academy and most recently Bounce Zone, Laser Tag, Marmon Sports Perfomance & Fitness and Baeplex martial arts. In 2005 WISC went through its biggest transformation when it added 20,000 sq. ft which is home to the WISC Kids Club Preschool and WISC Gymnastics. If you would have told Chris Haywood that in 10 years time WISC would be home to this many programs he would have probably laughed it off. But in truth, WISC has always been at the forefront of providing a place for Williamsburg families to participate in various sports, programs and activities.
‘We made a commitment early on in the business to cater to the local community. We have always tried to provide programs that would attract kids and adults to our facility, while at the same time making it economically feasible. The response from the community has been overwhelming and we are so thankful for the support they give our facility.â€
WISC is located in Warhill Park in James City County.
