Rules

There are a few changes this year due to the playing surface.  We only have one court now and it is the turf court.  Therefore we will allow lifts during play, as long as it is not dangerous.  NO HITS OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED.  All legal passes and shots should not have a backswing.  We do not have a shooting circle (we use the soccer box) and we can not play with all defenders back on corners because there are no end lines.  We will NOT be using the “self-start” rule this season.  Each team will be allowed two 1-minute timeouts per game, but they can not be used within the last 3 minutes of either half.  There will be an 8 goal maximum for goal differential.  I hope you all have a good time and remember we are here to play hockey and have fun!  J  Here are a few basic rules, if you have any questions… feel free to contact me.

  • Games will be played with 5 plus a GK.  If both teams agree you may play with 6 plus a GK to allow maximum participation.  (You must have a minimum of 4 players to avoid a forfeit).  You do NOT have to play with a GK, you can substitute a  player in for the GK.
  • We will play with rolling substitutions (just like in outdoor field hockey).
  • The courts are designed for soccer play, so the “square” will be used as the circle.
  • You can not hit the ball, but you may sweep, push, or flick.
  • NEW RULE:  You may lift the ball in play as long as it is not deemed dangerous.
  • OFFENSIVE CORNERS:  The ball must be controlled outside the circle and brought back in before you can take a shot.
  • DEFENSIVE CORNERS:  You will be allowed 3 defenders in the goal plus a GK.  The rest of the defense will be at midfield.  No one is allowed outside of the cage (on the sides) until the injector has moved the ball.
  • NEW RULE:  On defensive corners no player is allowed to be between the injector and the goalie.  All defense must be inside the goal on the opposite side of the goalie as the ball.
  • NEW RULE:  The goalie can use her feet to clear the ball from the injector circles to the top of the semi-circle above the box.
  • Officials have the right to card and/or eject any player, coach, or fan displaying poor sportsmanship.

* Seeding Criteria for the Tournament will be as follows:  Points, Head to Head,  Goals Against, Goal Differential, Goals For, Coin Toss
